This kit is designed to add to the previous kits and expand the cooking, fire, water collection, and first aid. It does not include food for three weeks - hence the addition of the rifle (kidding). I am hoping that during this three weeks, one would be able to retrieve some of the supplies kept at the main residence.
Backpack - There are a few key things to look for when considering a backpack. While you don't want to spend a lot of money for something that is going to sit in your garage, you can still get the necessary features, if you find a good deal.
Should have adjustable shoulder straps - meaning in the middle of the back you can take out the straps and adjust for small, medium, large, etc.
Should have internal closure bags, to keep out the rain
Should have thick lumbar, hip and waist pads.
In my pack there is a built in rain cover, nice, but bright yellow - I will probably just use a garbage sack if necessary.
